FAQs
How long does each therapy session take?
The face to face portion of each session is broken down as follows:
Adult sessions are generally 50mins face to face.

Children and Adolescents vary from 40-45mins pending needs, which allows the therapist to complete a 5-10min handover of strategies/update with parents either pre or post session.

The NDIA and APS require strict record keeping by psychologists, as a result, the remaining 10mins of each hour is allocated to sessions notes.
Do you have cancellation fees for missed appointments?
Yes, South Burnett Psychology charges in line with the NDIA and APS standards for cancelled appointments, but the fee is dependent on the amount of notice given. See below for details:

Over 24hrs notice = no fee.
Less then 24hrs = 50% of session fee.
No show without notice = 100% of session fee.

Whenever possible (i.e., 24+hrs notice), South Burnett Psychology will attempt to fill cancelled appointment spaces from the waitlist to minimise the need to charge cancellation fees. If this is not possible, South Burnett Psychology will (where applicable) engage in other work related to the client (e.g., report completion, resource development) during the cancelled appointment time so as to minimise wasted funds.
How are your prices set?
South Burnett Psychology charges in line with the current guidelines for psychology services set out by the NDIA (price guide) and below what the APS suggests.

Please contact us to discuss session charges or see the Fees and Funding tab for Medicare pricing.
Do I need a referral before seeing you?
This can vary pending which funding stream you are utilising.
Medicare and DVA funding all require a GP to send through a referral on your behalf, or you can scan and email us a copy of the care plan signed by your GP.
NDIS funding does not require a GP referral, you are welcome to self-refer, parents can refer their children, or your supports coordinator can refer you to the service if you ask them to.

Private clients (full fee paying) do not require a GP referral, however, you will be required to pay the entire session fee yourself out of pocket.
Do you bulk bill?
No. We believe that therapy requires investment from the client as well as the therapist; when the service is free we have found that clients' overall motivation to attend and their engagement with the therapy process has become low which means that progress and positive outcomes were also reduced.
As a result, there are gap fees associated with Medicare funded sessions. Our gap fees are in line with prices in Toowoomba and are significantly less than Brisbane clinics.
We offer discounted session rates for pension/concession card holders.
